Helen started out in the small town on the minisland of Benelise, just off the coast of Mexico, with American parents who had relocated there in the cold winter of the previous year. Despite being in an area where the national language was generally accepted as Spanish, Helen didn't do very well at learning it was her language around the house was American English. When she reached the age of 11, her parents moved her back to Mason, where she completed her middle and higher education, before moving away temporarily to study mathematics at college. She came back to her 'home town' to continue her studies at Cambridge, before getting herself a job as a Mason High mathematics teacher.
Helen generally gets along with her colleagues, and is usually the one to bring Starbucks to the staff room each morning. She memorises everyone's different traits, and knows what they like and dislike, and so applies that whilst interacting. This is what makes her a generally good teacher, as she can remember what helps a student learn and what doesn't. She is currently the head of her department after being commented on graciously in last year's inspection.
