Firstly, welcome to Mason Town! You're bound to have heaps of fun here and we're very happy to have you aboard.
Here on this forum, we are strictly one account per character, unless we tell you otherwise.
If you're new to the site, you may want to have a little read through of this guide. It will cover;-
- Making Claims
- Multiple Accounts
- The Monetary System & Other Plugins
- Threading (Guidelines, Finding a Thread & Special Events)
- IC & OOC
- Word Count
You may also want to check our FAQs if you find yourself unsure of anything. If your query is not solved, don't hesitate to ask a member of staff! After all, we're here to help.
Making Claims
Claims are updated every few months by the staff here at Mason and your claims will be added here. Every character must have a faceclaim, and we do require that you do not use any of the restricted sitemodels for this. If you have child characters, a faceclaim is not required.
Multiple Accounts
We say that you must have one account per character. Doesn't that mean I need to keep making new Proboards accounts? Doesn't that mean I need to make new emails? To answer the previous questions, no it does not. You may see a little pull out tab in the bottom right corner of your screen, before the page scroll. In that, there are three little icons. The first one (with two people) is the one you want to click on. This will take you to the forum account swap page. In blue writing below the available accounts, choose 'create new forum account'. There, you will be able to create a new forum account under your global account. You can also use this button to switch between your forum accounts.
The Monetary System & Other Plugins
On this site, we use the Monetary System, a plugin that allows us to add virtual money to accounts so characters can spend things more realistically. This also requires us to use the Yootil plugin. These plugins should in no way harm your computer, but if you have any problems regarding the plugins we are using, please report them to a member of staff.
Threading
Now, the big one. The whole reason this site exists. If it was not for roleplay, we wouldn't be sat down writing this guide for you. So let's dig right in.
Guidelines
All roleplay must follow the Proboards 'Terms of Service'. If you have not read these, it is highly advisable, as it includes some extremely important information. The most important is that all roleplay must be PG-13 (12A). This means that all sex scenes must 'fade to black' or be written in a way that thinks more about the emotions than the physical side of things. If you have any questions regarding these rules, please do not hesitate to ask a member of staff, as we would hate to see a lovely post (or thread) have to be deleted as it violates the rules.
Finding a Thread
You can find a thread by asking in the shoutbox at the bottom of the thread, or looking through open threads and seeing if you'd like to join any. We also have a thread directory here.
Special Events
Special events, such as New Years Eve, will be celebrated as a community in the town centre, or in the town hall events room. These events will be open, and so everyone may join them.
IC & OOC
There is a thick line between IC & OOC that we've drawn. IC, you can have rivalries, petty fights and so on. OOC, there's a difference. We would not like any OOC drama, fights, arguments or the latter. We realise that in roleplay, there will be a clash of personalities and many differing opinions on things such as race, religion, sexuality etc. Arguments about things such as these will not be tolerated. It is much better for you to not roleplay with someone who you just don't agree with than roleplaying with them and having silly OOC arguments that nobody has the time for. Line drawn, period dotted.
Word Count
We do not have any word count! This means that your posts may be of any realistic length- we're not saying you can be a one-line wonder after a three paragraph post.
Currently, we only have one staff member- Kae, the admin. If you'd like to help out on the site, don't hesitate to ask!
