Lee Jaehyun Down in the woods at the far end of the park in Mason Town is a little lake. And this place holds many memories for everyone who ever stayed in Mason for longer than a week in their teenage years. There is a little waterfall, and in the gap of air underneath the rocks forming it are wristbands dug into the stone from 2007. In the trees surrounding the lake, names carved into the wood from each turn of Mason kids. The little bench-like arrangement of tree stumps and boulders in areas around the water. This place has been everyone's escape. At 8:17pm, Jongin still sits on one of the boulders, as he had for the past half hour. Looking at his reflection in the water, sitting in complete silence, and thinking about everything. His chest ached, and his cheeks bared red lines where tears had fallen. His hair was a mess, and so was the rest of him. He wondered if anyone in the past years had sat here feeling the same way- so hopeless, so hurt. He squeezed his eyes shut and took a deep breath.

Jae had only found out where Jongin was fifteen minutes ago, after getting back to his apartment and sitting to himself to think. And he ran, as fast as his Nike sneakers would take him, through the muddy fields and the trees. And even when he tripped and scraped his arm on a tree, he just got back up and ran until he saw the waterfall and the glistening lake in the darkness of the California evening.
"Jongin." He choked, gasping for air. He sat down on a tree stump by the other boy, his arms starting to tingle as he saw the tear streams down his cheeks.

The ache in Jongin's chest started to spread to the rest of his body, and he turned his head to look at Jae. Looking at him made him want to be sick, and his hands shook slightly as he brought them down to his lap.
"This is what you do to me. I give you my god damn heart and you blow it up. You don't care about me at all." He says after a second, looking from Jae's muddy shoes to his scraped arm and his mouth as it gasped for air.

"I'm sorry." Jae mumbled, rubbing the scrape on his arm as his breathing slowed back down. The small pang of guilt he'd felt earlier was now settling in his stomach and growing as he sat there with Jongin.
"I know I'm an asshole. I'm absolutely shit to you. You don't deserve any of this. You don't deserve a stupid, out of control motherfucking waste of space like me. You deserve so much better. And I'm sorry that I do this to you. And you don't have to forgive me. And you don't have to take me back, because you don't deseve me. But I'll still always care about you, and I'll still always love you... Even if it seems like I don't give two shits." Jae continued, looking down at his feet.

Jongin gulped as Jae spoke, listening quietly to every words he said and squeezing his eyes closed again, his face hidden in his hands. He knew if he gave Jae another chance, he'd probably just blow it again, but he couldn't seem to walk away from him.
"And do you expect me to just forgive you and wipe my cheeks and kiss you and give you another chance?" Jongin asked, his voice shaky. "Because that's what I'm going to do."
And Jongin did so- he wiped his cheeks with his already damp sleeves and moved over to sit on the same tree stump as Jae and pulled his chin up and placed his soft lips from all the crying onto Jae's.

Automatically, Jae's hands moved to Jongin's waist, and he kissed him back, his eyes closed and his breathing matching Jongin's. He moved up on the tree stump so that Jongin could fit on and just sat there with him, his heart beating a little faster with relief as he smiled against his lips.
