Starbucks

Steven had been contemplating buying a Starbucks all day, and after an hour long mathematics lecture about the nth term, he had finally managed to drag himself into the coffee shop, ordering a pumpkin spice latte and handing over the money to the girl behind the desk with a short but sweet smile. He ruffled his hands through his medium-length, chocolate hair and took the drink, sliding into a window booth with a view over the parking lot.

Steven notices a young girl walk into the café, possibly only a year or two younger than him, and smiled back at her when she smiled at him. He then noticed that she was meeting a young boy, who seemed to be trying to make a move on her but was failing miserably. He kept his eye on her as he sipped on his drink, making sure that not only was she safe but also that when she was alone he would have the right opportunity to go up and say hi. What were the risks, after all? He doubted anyone in Mason knew who he really was, anyways.

Steven frowns to himself when he sees what the younger boy tries to do, pushing himself up from his seat and heading over in quick pace. He puts his hand on the boy's shoulder, telling him to lay off the girl, and smiles at the girl politely. "I hope you're okay." He tells her quietly.

Steven nods, looking at her arm. "He shouldn't. You don't deserve it." He tells her, taking a seat. "What's your name?"

Steven nods, still smiling at her. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Destiny." He tells her, flipping his hair to the side slightly. "I'm Steven." He introduces himself, holding out his hand for her to shake.

Steven shakes her hand, pulling it away after a couple of seconds. "So, are you a resident of Mason?" He asks her, twiddling his fingers behind his back. He hadn't seen her around before.

Steven nods, huffing internally as his long hair fell over his eyes yet again. It was definitely time to cut it. "That's awesome! How're you settling in?" He asks, wondering just how long she'd been here. Steven was in and out of town all the time.
