We Meet Again | LAX Airport

Seok stood by the conveyor belts, watching as luggage from the flight from Seoul spun around and around. He waited patiently for his suitcase to come around, staying for a couple of seconds and then jumping in to pull it off the rack. He looked around at his friends, who had mostly managed to get their bags, and fumbled for his passport. One bit of security and then he'd feel like he was in America. He followed in a line behind his classmates, who had started to file in to the final identity check.

He handed over his passport, and the woman placed it down on her scanner. After a couple of seconds she asked his name, and then handed back his passport and told him he could go. And so he did, footstep after footstep, dragging his suitcase down the white walled alley and out into the arrivals section, where friends and family could wait for their loved ones to return home, or the place where you'd find your taxi driver on holiday. He checked the time on his phone and tripped up on a piece of gum, his phone slipping and smashing on the hard floor. He mumbled a couple of cuss words in Korean and fumbled for it, sighing as he picked it up and putting it in his pocket. He looked at the people he had come with, and then his eyes flickered away from his friends and danced over the many people waiting, wondering if he'd know anyone. Wondering if the Mason students would be there.

Seok's phone was getting hot in his pocket, and he wondered if he'd really broken it. He slid it out as he heard it ring, jumping slightly when he realised how hot it was and answering the call.

"Hi." He says, putting the call on speaker so that he didn't have to hold it to his face. He continued to pull his suitcase, tucking some of his redyed hair behind his ear as he walked. America was so different from Korea, even in the airport.

Seok touched his hair again, frowning in confusion and looking around.

"Where are you?" He asked, still walking forward and then finally spotting her.

Seok laughs and hangs up, sliding his scorching phone in an open side compartment of his suitcase and running in her direction. The wheels of his case made an odd humming sound as he ran, but he didn't care.

"Hello." He says, taking deep breaths as he got his breath back. He stood just a few metres away from her, smiling slightly.

Seok laughed too.

"Is my hair really that distracting?" He asked, raising his eyebrows jokily.

Seok chuckled and tipped his head to the side.

"Interesting."
